We Are Booking Hunts for our 2011-2012 Season.
Wyoming Mule Deer & Antelope Guided Hunts.
Trophy Mule Deer Hunts
Our Wyoming hunts are based out of Big Horn.
Wyoming a small western town at the foot of the Big Horn Mountains.
This area of Wyoming is beautiful, the game abundant and it is absolutely a deer magnet. There is a lot of agriculture in the area and its not uncommon to see 100-200 deer in one field. To say there is a high success ratio on this hunt is an understatement.
We have been guiding here for the last 30 years.
Our operation is relatively small and operates on a personal basis.
We like small groups and never have more than ten hunters in our lodge.
The lodge has all the modern facilities with a private bath in each room.
The dining room serves home cooked meals for breakfast and supper.
We provide a packed lunch during the day when your in the field.
We currently have access to over 150,000 acres of private properties,
that are managed to produce quality hunting year after year.
Most of the Mule Deer Hunting is done in the foot hills of the Big Horn Mountains.
We hunt on our own ranch and private land we have secured.
We normally hunt spot and stalk method.
The hunting is in relatively open country where you will see numerous deer each day.
These deer stage in the foot hills above the numerous alfalfa fields in the area.
Our tactic is to intercept them coming and going from the fields.
In the mornings we start by getting to vantage points and glassing the animals,
as they leave the fields and watching them head to there bedding areas.
The stalks for the most part are ¼ to ½ a mile but at times,
can be further and being in good physical condition greatly increases your success.
Our whitetail hunting also takes place in the Big Horn area.
We have a unique situation here in our area.
During the month of October , you can hunt either deer (Whitetail or Mule Deer).
Whitetail season is open through the entire month of November.
Most hunting is done mainly around the brushy draws that lead to and from the alfalfa fields. Pop up blinds and climbing tree stands are the best tactic.
If you are bow a hunter, this is as good as it gets.
Pronghorn Antelope Hunting |
Once you have tagged your deer we will make day trips from our lodge in Big Horn,
to our private ranches near Gillett.
Wyoming has more antelope than people and is well known for its huge population.
You will have the opportunity to look over many herds ,
until you find the animal your looking for.
Antelope hunting is fun with distances being deceiving,
and some shots can really test your skills.
Although most of the time we can get within 200 yards if needed.
We use 4X4 pickups to do the glassing and employ the spot and stalk method on the hunting
.
Besides driving to Big Horn the best way is to fly into Billings MT ,
and rent a car it’s a nice two hour drive from there.
There is also a airport in nearby Sheridan where chartered flights,
from Billings and Denver arrive.
They are not cheap but are convenient.
Drawings and Licensing
All hunters must apply for a license.
All licenses are by draw in Wyoming and you must apply for and receive,
a hunting license for each species you wish to hunt.
Drawing success has been a 100% for the last ten years.
Getting a license is almost a sure thing.
If you wish to hunt with us we will send you the applications.
Fill them out and return them to us no later than March 1st.
We will fill in the areas in which you will be hunting and that best fit your needs.
We will then submit your applications by the due date of March 15th.
Check with us even if you miss the March 15th deadline,
usually we can still get you tags until July
Our most popular hunt is the Combination Deer / Antelope Hunt.
Your Wyoming deer license in
October is good for either species Mule Deer or Whitetail. There is a high probability you can get a second deer tag if you apply for it.
Which would make this a three animal hunt.
We make no guarantees, other than to do our best to provide you with a memorable hunt. We take pride in each animal we harvest.
Hunting is not just making the kill, but that you enjoy yourself.
And experience the splendors of Wyoming and match wits with the animals being hunted.
A sincere desire to hunt is needed to obtain a real trophy.
Your hunting success greatly increases when a you are,
physically and mentally prepared
and familiar with his or her rifle.
Lots of practice at the range will go far in helping you enjoy your big game hunt.
We suggest you spend time practicing from the prone,
(lying on your stomach) kneeling and standing positions.
As well as practicing with shooting sticks.
There is not many opportunities to shoot from benches,
with sand bags in real life hunting situations.
